Image & map licensing

Everything on this page answers one question: if you want to use a map or an image from countrydrawing.com, what are you allowed to do with it?

Last updated October 2026

Where the geometry comes from

The country outlines on this site are simplified from Natural Earth, a public-domain map dataset. Natural Earth places no restrictions on use, so the underlying border geometry you see in the game and on the printable maps carries no attribution requirement and no licence fee. We credit it anyway, because it is the honest thing to do.

Using the maps and outlines

Printable blank maps, outline thumbnails and reference tables on this site may be used freely — in classrooms, worksheets, study notes, blog posts and personal projects — without asking us and without paying anything. Attribution is appreciated but not required: a link to countrydrawing.com is enough.

If you redistribute the outlines as part of a product or a paid course, keep the note that the data is derived from Natural Earth. That keeps the provenance of the geometry intact.

Using the share cards and screenshots

The 1200×630 cards that appear when a page from this site is shared, and screenshots of the game, are produced by Country Drawing and remain ours. You may embed or quote them when writing about the site, its scores or its printable maps. Do not present them as your own product, and do not use them in advertising for something unrelated to this site.

Requesting a different licence

Need commercial use that the paragraph above does not cover, a higher-resolution render, or a custom blank map for a specific region or projection? Ask. Requests are answered by a person, not a form, and most educational and editorial uses are approved.

Write to service@countrydrawing.com with what you want to use, where it will appear and whether the use is commercial. See also the Terms of Service for the rules that govern the site itself.
