Difficulty here is measured, not guessed: we count how much detail each real border carries relative to its size, so the ranking reflects how much of the outline a freehand stroke can realistically capture. These are the 65 most forgiving countries in the game — the right place to learn how the scoring behaves before you attempt a fjord.

What makes a country easy to draw

Straight borders drawn by rulers, not rivers

Much of North Africa and the Middle East was partitioned along lines of latitude and longitude. Egypt, Libya and Sudan are close to polygons, and a polygon is something a human hand can actually reproduce.

One landmass, no islands

Every extra island is another shape to remember and another stroke to place. Landlocked countries have no coastline to butcher, which is why so many of them sit at the top of this list.

A silhouette you have already memorised

Italy, Chile and India score well above their raw difficulty because their shape is culturally famous. Familiarity is worth more than simplicity.
